Stephen F. Clegg

I was born in Stockport in 1947, grew up in Bredbury and Romiley where I attended local Schools and then Stockport College.

Thereafter I became employed in a wide variety of jobs including a Police Officer, a driving instructor, a bingo hall manager, and even a bedroom steward aboard a cruise liner, circumnavigating the world twice in my endless desire to experience new and exciting things, and to visit the kind of exotic places that most of my friends only dreamt about.

In 1971 I settled in Bournemouth and one year later met my future wife Jay; we married in 1974 and a few years later we were blessed with a son and a daughter – Iain and Nicola.

In 1982, I started my own businesses and continued working in them until 2006 when I sold up, and having never lost my love of the sea, I became a professional Yachtmaster, taking disabled people out on sailing trips in and around The Solent and Poole Harbour.

In that same year I penned the first draft of ‘Maria’s Papers’ and to my incredible good fortune, one year later met and became friends with American Professor Stephen J Robitaille, a four-times Emmy Award winning film producer, who so loved the novel, that he has converted it into a screenplay for a 110-minute feature film or four-part television series.

‘Maria’s Papers’ is now available from all the popular High Street booksellers, from , , or directly from the London based Publishing House, Austin & Macauley .  The number to quote is ISBN 9781849631303, or simply ask for it by name.  Alternatively you can pop into your local library and order it from there.
